We usually make the search for happiness more complicated than it needs to be, trying to find it in relationships, comfortable conditions, possessions, success, and so on. But we can see that many successful people are only superficially happy, new possessions only make us happy for a little while, and even in the most comfortable conditions we can still be miserable. The real source of happiness is not external things but peace of mind.
All of Buddha’s teachings are methods to develop authentic happiness from inside, and in this series we will focus on seven things we can practice: gratitude, humility, generosity, acceptance, forgiveness, rejoicing, and delight. Through training in them we can develop our wisdom, cultivate our good heart, and maintain a peaceful state of mind. In this way we will become truly happy.
