Clear Sky Mind

Our problems are like bad weather in the mind, or like clouds in the sky. We all know that when the storms disappear and the clouds fade away, the sky becomes clear, still and bright. We don’t have to make the sky like that; it's  always like that before and after the stormy weather.

In the same way, our mind always has the potential to be peaceful, clear and positive. That is its true nature. We don’t have to force peace into our mind. We just have to understand our own mind and how to uncover its natural potential.

During this retreat, Gen Kelsang Chokyi will explore “what exactly is my mind?” based on the wisdom of the Mahamudra masters. The retreat will provide us with the opportunity to experience the vast space of mental peace that already exists within us. We will learn how to stop identifying with our mental bad weather and instead with our clear sky mind.

READING MATERIAL for the RETREAT

This retreat will be using the Mahamudra Tantra book and the Clarity of Mind booklet by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. It's not required to have these books, but some people like to have them on hand during the event or read more afterward.

A special Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa combined with the condensed sadhana of his Dharma Protector and a short 20-minute mediation. This puja includes two practices revealed by the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. The first is a special Guru yoga in which we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa, who himself is a manifestation of Manjushri.

By relying upon this practice, we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish all the realizations of the stages of the path of Sutra and Tantra, and in particular we will attain a very special Dharma wisdom.

What will we be studying?

We are studying Joyful Path of Good Fortune: The Path to the Supreme Happiness of Enlightenment.

We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities, but to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do at every stage of our spiritual journey.

With this book, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness. With extraordinary clarity, he presents Buddha’s teachings in the order in which they are to be practiced, enriching his explanation with stories and analogies. A perfect guidebook to the Buddhist Path.

What we need is not displays of miracle powers but a clear example of how to enter an unmistaken spiritual path, how to practice that path comfortably and smoothly, and how to complete it successfully. This is the actual method for solving our daily problems.

Teacher Training Program

Teacher Training Program

Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:30 pm & Sundays 4:00 – 6:00 pm

What is the Teacher Training Program?

Through a deep and continuing commitment to the program of study, meditation, discussion, and retreat, we can gain deep experience of Buddha’s teachings, establish a strong meditation practice, and become a qualified teacher in our own right.

What will we be studying?

Teacher Training Program will begin studying Mahamudra Tantra, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Mahamudra is the union of the most subtle mind that experiences great bliss and realizes ultimate truth - the way things actually exist. From his practical experience, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso explains how to prepare our mind for Mahamudra meditation, how to remove obstacles to successful practice, and how we can experience progressively subtler states of mind.

By explaining how to uncover and purify the deepest level of our mind and to use this very subtle blissful mind to meditate on ultimate truth, he shows how we can destroy all our negative minds at their very root and quickly reach the state of full enlightenment.

Wishfulfilling Jewel with Tsog

What is Wishfulfilling Jewel? An inspiring prayer practice to develop our wisdom, compassion and spiritual protection for the benefit of all living beings.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. This prepares our mind for a twenty-minute meditation on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. After the meditation we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.

This practice includes a special tsog (or food) offering. Traditionally, those who wish, bring a vegetarian food offering.
