In this brief series, gain personal experience of the many benefits of meditation:
-Relieve tension, stress, and worry
-Experience deep relaxation and well-being
-Enhance your focus & mindfulness
-Gain a positive approach to life

Each class will include simple meditations you can do anytime and practical tips to start meditating regularly.

After Work Meditation:
5:30 – 6:00 p.m. | $5 | Free for Members of KMC Indianapolis

Take 30 minutes after work to connect to your heart, cultivate inner peace and happiness and refresh your mind during your busy day. Everyone is welcome to attend these guided meditations. No previous experience is necessary.

Kelsang Zamling is a modern Buddhist monk and the Principal Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Indianapolis. He has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years and has taught in the United States and in the UK. Zamling completed an intensive 6 month Special Teacher Training Program with our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, to further his qualifications as a teacher. He is well-loved by his students, and sets an immaculate example of someone who has taken Buddha’s teachings to heart. Zamling is known for his practical approach, warmth and clarity and we feel very fortunate to have him as our teacher at KMC Indianapolis.

Q. Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend a class?
You do not need to have experience in meditation or be a Buddhist to attend. The meditation classes we offer are suitable for all individuals, whatever their level of interest- from those who seek simple relaxation and stress relief, to those who wish to learn about Modern Buddhism. Everyone is welcome!

Q. I’ve never been to a meditation class before. What should I expect?
Classes  are very accessible. You do not need to bring any mats or wear any special clothing. There will be chairs available to sit on. There is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved. 

Q. What does a typical class look like?
A typical class consists of a simple relaxation meditation, a short teaching and a follow-up meditation. The meditations are guided and are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Q. I’ve been coming to classes for a while. I really like what I hear. Is there something more I can try?
For those students who want to deepen their experience of Buddhism. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso designed the Foundation Program (FP). FP allows us to become more deeply familiar with Buddhist teachings by systematically studying one of five texts on the FP curriculum.
