Buddhist Primary School: Everyone Welcome!
The first International Kadampa Primary School in the world – teaching children how to have a successful life through learning the skills of how to be happy.
In the United States and across the globe one thing in becoming clear; alternative education is producing the next generation of strong and confident leaders. Combining emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being with practical knowledge is producing dramatic results in our children’s education. Study after study is confirming what most parents have long suspected; a holistic approach to education yields the most powerful and lasting results. Because all children are different, it is only logical to have an educational system that allows the child’s learning ability to ‘unfold’ along their own personal timeline and tendencies instead of a state-determined one. This approach is rapidly expanding throughout the world and is quickly gaining popularity among parents from a variety of ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. Currently there is an estimated 5,000 Montessori-styles schools in North America and this number is increasing every year.
The Kadampa Primary School Derbyshire, offers a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to education. Based in rural England, the newly established school hosts children aged 3 – 11 from around the world. The Early Years and pre-school (rising 3 – 5 year olds) and Key Stage 1 (5 – 7 year olds) is organized and particularly influenced by Montessori principles. The school environment is conducive to experiential learning of basic sciences, math, reading, history, language and physical education. In addition, children are taught meditation techniques which help to foster inner development.
While the school has a strong Buddhist ethos at its core, the parents of the children nor the children attending do not need to be or to become Buddhist. The main purpose of the school is to offer children tools to successfully navigate their daily problems with compassion and learn the skills of how to be happy. Everyone is welcome!
