• Solving Problems With Wisdom Class

    Buddhist psychology gives anyone–regardless of background or belief–practical wisdom we can use to solve our daily problems and transform the negative habit patterns in our mind. Our mind has limitless potential, but without wise and gentle training this potential remains untapped and we can remain trapped in states of anxiety, dissatisfaction, frustration, and depression.

    Each evening begins with a guided breathing meditation, followed by practical guidance and instruction on a particular theme, and concludes with a second meditation to deepen our personal experience of the theme of the evening.

    January Series: New Year, New You

    Start the year off moving your mind and life in the right direction–toward greater peace, happiness, and purpose; special emphasis will be placed on gaining direct experience of meditation and mindfulness strategies.

    Jan 4/9:  Happiness is an Inside Job

    Although we often try to find happiness outside ourselves, the best happiness comes from within.  This class will explore how anyone can start the process of deepening experience of happiness from within.

    Jan 11/16: Living without Stress

    We all experience unexpected stresses throughout our life; instead of letting stressful situations control our life, learn how to use meditation to gradually change our natural reaction–from stress and worry to greater confidence and mental strength.

    Jan 18/23: Busy Life, Peaceful Mind

    Our perspective and attitude determine our experience.  Even if life us very busy and challenging we can develop the skill to keep our mind balanced and flexible.  Learn how during this class.

    Jan 25/30: Overcome Feeling Overwhelmed

    Whether it’s the daily news or our personal life, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and daunted by things happening around us.  Meditation can help keep our mind grounded, protected, and calm even amidst the most challenging life experiences.  

  • February Series: Learning to Let Go

    This series will explore how we can learn to let go of bad mental habits, come to accept our past and feel more confident and hopeful about our future. The teachings given will show how we can apply the timeless wisdom of Buddha’s teachings on the mind and start to transform our life from within.

    Each session will consist of teachings and meditations as well as an opportunity to ask questions. Everyone is welcome, and no previous experience necessary.

    Feb 1/ 6: Letting go of the Past

    This class will explore how we can let go of resentment and heal our relationship with the past.

    Feb 8/13: Letting go of Blame and Guilt

    This class will learn how we can relate to the potential for purity that exists within each of us and overcome critical thoughts towards our self and others

    Special Thursday Evening Event- Feb 15: Liberating Wisdom in the Age of Deception 7-8:30pm

    In a time of increasing uncertainty, fear, and deception, is there anything left that’s reliable and trustworthy?  Led by National Spiritual Director and Buddhist nun, Gen Kelsang Demo, this public talk will address this growing concern and reveal practical and profound methods to develop inner strength and wisdom.  Everyone is welcome regardless of background or belief.

    Feb 20/22: Letting go of the Ego

    Our negative emotions are inevitably bound up with a strong sense of self. This class will explore how we can learn to let go of our obsessive self-concern and come to discover real freedom from within.

    Feb 27/ Mar 1: Letting go of Negative Karma

    This class will take a deeper look at the underlying cause of our everyday experiences according to Buddha’s teachings on the law of Karma and how we can use this understanding to prevent future suffering.

Gen Kelsang Zamling is a modern Buddhist monk and the Principal Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Indianapolis. He has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years and has taught in the United States and in the UK. Gen Zamling completed an intensive 6 month Special Teacher Training Program with our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, to further his qualifications as a teacher. He is well-loved by his students, and sets an immaculate example of someone who has taken Buddha’s teachings to heart. Gen Zamling is known for his practical approach, warmth and clarity and we feel very fortunate to have him as our teacher at KMC Indianapolis.
