January Retreats: The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra

These in-depth meditation retreats focuses on the preliminary practices that support our spiritual path leading to the sublime happiness of enlightenment. If we sincerely practice the instructions given in these retreats, we can quickly and easily attain profound enlightenment without hardship.

These retreats will be guided according to the instructions from the book “Oral Instructions of Mahamudra” by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, an authoritative text on the quick path of Vajrayana Mahamudra, the definitive method to attain full enlightenment in one short life.  

Please note that these are in-depth retreats and assumes considerable background knowledge and some previous experience. Open to those who have already received Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments or have the sincere intention to receive them soon.

Brief unguided retreats

Following each Sunday guided retreat day will be two days of unguided morning retreat sessions held on a drop-in basis Monday and Tuesday. These unguided sessions are open to those who attended the Sunday teaching and retreat sessions.

Gen Kelsang Zamling is a modern Buddhist monk and the Principal Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Indianapolis. He has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years and has taught in the United States and in the UK. Gen Zamling completed an intensive 6 month Special Teacher Training Program with our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, to further his qualifications as a teacher. He is well-loved by his students, and sets an immaculate example of someone who has taken Buddha’s teachings to heart. Gen Zamling is known for his practical approach, warmth and clarity and we feel very fortunate to have him as our teacher at KMC Indianapolis.
